At the School of Health Sciences, I was tasked with creating social media graphics for a multitude of things. I used Canva to create said graphics, which were then posted to the Instagram, Facebook, and X accounts. When creating graphics, my goal is to design eye-catching posts and have simple text on them. Having minimal text helps convey the point to the viewer, while making sure they're engaged and intrigued in the design of the post. Using Oakland Universities classic colors of gold, black, and white tie us back to our roots of being one of the schools at Oakland University. Through crafting coherent and visually compelling designs, I strengthened our brand identity while driving growth across social media platforms.
After being selected as the social media and website manager for the 2023 calendar year, I was determined to create content and graphics for our platform that portrayed our sisterhood, identity as an organization, and our members. By using Canva, fun, eye-catching graphics were important to make. Featuring our organizations members, values, and day-to-day lives gave the posts a relatable aspect to them. An overall goal of our Instagram was to bring in new followers, especially girls who were interested in going through sorority recruitment at Oakland University. With the inclusion of our members and our organizations key aspects, I brought a new, attracting look to our Instagram account.
